From FARPE-FUNDALUCE, we have launched the initiative that began last year under th
e name «INSPIRING LIGHTS: SPAIN ILLUMINATES RETINA» where we managed to get around 80 Spanish municipalities to illuminate their most emblematic buildings with the colors of the retina: BLUE and GREEN on World Retina Day.
Many of those affected photographed these buildings and sent us the photos, so that in this way, we gave visibility to the initiative and consequently to retinal diseases.
This year, 2024, we aim for this initiative to reach more countries, so the initiative is now called «INSPIRING LIGHTS: TOGETHER WE ILLUMINATE THE RETINA» for World Retina Day, September 29.
The idea is that as we receive confirmation from the municipalities that will be illuminated in Spain and in the countries that join, we will publish them on our website and social networks, so that those affected, associations, families, professionals, etc., know which buildings near them will be illuminated and can visit on September 29, 2024, take a photo, and share it with the hashtag #lightsthatinspire.
Entities or individuals wishing to participate can write to us at farpe@retinosisfarpe.org to receive a template letter to send to the municipalities and a poster for dissemination.
